Hope everyone is having a great new year!

Just before new years I finished animating these bits for some friends of mine in Spain called " La Moto De Fernan" they're a great two piece! and the song is the shit!!! wish you english folk could understand the lyrics!!! they are a hoot!! I did the animation.

Crisitian, the drummer, lead singer, also has a blog about music and punk rock art stuff that makes me remember the great times I had back in Spain!! the web site is lamaracailustrada.com check it out!!! and buy the fanzine!! I was interviewed in it!! hehehe here is the ad!

Punk, passion, politics and public protest collide, in this documentary depicting the fight to save rock and roll in Melbourne.

In 2010, the iconic Tote Hotel - last bastion of Melbourne’s vibrant music counterculture - was forced to close by unfair laws. Filmed over 7 years, “Persecution Blues” depicts the struggle of more than 20,000 fans - and the bands who inspire them - to preserve their history and protect their future, and puts the audience on the front line of an epic-scale culture war.

Just finished this poster last week for the Tote Documentary (click to enlarge), we will have A2 size screen prints of it for sale at the first public screening this Thursday at the Greater Union cinema in the city... I've been working on the film for over a year or two...? not sure? but it's finally finished!! I worked on titles and some little animations...

The first screening sold out in the first 24 hours, but I think they will be screening it later in the year at Nova cinemas here in Melbourne and director Natalie Van Den Dungen will be taking the doco around the world to film festivals and other places.. so have a look for it!! it will also later be release on DVD by Madman entertainment, if you would like to keep up to date with what's going on go to www.persecutionblues.com .

My friend Neil Sanders has just invited me to collaborate on his new web Loodeloop.org .

At the start of every month animators from around the web wide world are given a word for them to do a little loop animation to!!! so I grabbed this little animation I was working on (it's for a secret project... it still needs heaps of work!) and made a loop! what would the word be here??

There are three more that I still need to finish... these are just a tease....

Hello!!

I've been making making these little rough covers for my little wordless comic book called 'The Grasshopper & the Mole', I've been feeling like doing something for children, a bit innocent and also wordless!!

Yeah first I carves these rubber blocks up, remember if you are going to write anything be sure to do it backwards, like you would see it in a mirror.

Here you can see how I set up my printing studio on the kitchen table, I put a peice of wood so I wouldn't dirty it! I also cut to size the watercolour paper I'll be printing on.

Here I'm happy because it's working!!!!! after ruining a whole lot of good paper!!

Here are the ones that came out good! they are simple but I like 'em! real rough looking!!!

G'day Peoples!!

As you can see, the little animations up the top here is new!! Thanks to my computer wizz friend Dante you can all see it!! he set up all the web content... he is also an awesome drummer and has a blog about music called The Ballad of Big Nothing, which is RAD!!!! so Thanks HEAPS DANTE!!!!!!

Dante is also Midnight Woolf's NEW drummer!! which is lucky for us!!! hehehe Later in March we'll be doing a little weekend tour up to Sydney, Wollongong and Camberra... so any of you who live up that way, come on down for some rock 'n' roll dancing!! it's gonna be fun!! we'll be playing with our friends Mother & Son and The Yard Apes!

Just got back from my trip about a couple of weeks ago... man been so busy I had to ignore the blog for a while... I'm still runnin a bit behind schedual with artwork but I'm gaining ground!!!

The exhibition in Valencia turned out really good but as usual I didn't take any photos... I'll see if I can track some down... Also spent some time with my mate Pete in Amsterdam!!! hhehehe good times!!!! saw Hex Dispensers which were awesome and The Anomalys with new second guitarist... it was a real fun night!!!

anyway here's some art....

Just finished this top ad/poster for the Turbo Rock festival in Spain... this ad will be feaured in Ruta 66 rock 'n' roll mag in Spain... July/August issue... so get your grubby paws on it!

Also got Los Chicos Off the Hip compilation cover ready for their Australian tour... that's gonna be fun!!!

On my way back from Europe I lost my plane in Doha, Qatar... and was stranded for 24h in a hotel with no money... the temperature outside was 53 degrees C BUT I was lucky enough to have a book my mate Pete Slovenly gave to me "Dishwasher" by Pete Jordan... I hadn't enjoyed a book so much in a long time... It's awesome!!!

G'day People, Just got back home on Monday from Valencia where we caught up with heaps of our mates... man we had one crazy old time!!! I think I left part of my already small brain there...
My wife took her tattooing instruments and tattooed a drawing I did a while back on one of my bestest friends in the world.... Gigante! original bass player in Midnight Woolf, Negative Waves and Los Perros among other thousand bands he's played in.... he's one of the greatest guys I know, and I love him!

I also caught up with the dudes from Sintoma Skateboards and picked up the latest batch of boards I designed for them...they turned ut really good... I was worried that they wouldn't turn out very good since I inked them in Adobe Illustrator... but every one there really likes them so all is good!
Anyway we had an awesome time at Trasto's house, telling jokes and drinking Rum... ohh how I love that sweet dark Rum!!!

My mother in law makes stuff with clay and she has her own ceramic oven... I had some spare time so I decided to give a go at painting some ceramic tiles... I wish I'd had more time to prepare the drawings.... these are only five out of ten, they are 20cm X 20cm on hand made tiles., if you are interested in buying any they are for sale at Galeria Valle Orti... just pop them an email.
It's pretty frustrating to do... because you have to draw very lightly with a really thin pencil and you can't rub out.... because the white gloss before cooking is a very fine toxic dust, and if you apply too much pressure with your pencil or try to rub out you'll dig a hole in the gloss, also the blue is actually a pinkish purple colour before you cook it and very pale so you don't really know how it's going to really look untill you cook it... it takes about 24 hours to cook and the heat reaches to more than 700 degrees Celsius, I love learning new stuff!

I'm working on this year's Kafre Teatre, got more stuff to show soon.... it's a Comedy festival they do in Picassent, Valencia, Spain... they have real funny theater stuff, one year I saw Jango Edwards there... real old school clown... it was really good!! Anyway I got this idea, of a drinking cupid, while remembering the night my wife and I met... we were both very drunk!

Also here is a skeleton digging his grave loop set to music... needs heaps more work!

Last week I spent paintings some signs for "Cantral Ink" tattoo studio, they are painted with enamel on metal... man that shit gets you buzzing!!! hehehe

Also been preparing some paintings for the upcoming exhibitions... I don't want to ruin the surprise element so I can't show you much but I can show you how this shit painting turned out!... (there are some real dodgy shines in the centre of the photo but ahhh it don't matter does it?)

I just finished these couple of peices for the NEW Manic Pistoleros Mini LP that will be out early next year... I've been listening to the record and it's one bad arse mother fucker!! rockin songs and real good natural sound so when it's out get your dirty little paws on it!! it'll be worth it!
this is the front cover... don't ask me what it is... because I haven't got a clue... only the gods know what I was thinking when I drew it???

and this is the back cover... it will have a fold out inside but it won't be done by me but by Doz... I'm sure she'll deliver real cool stuff!!

And down the bottom here is a little drawing I did for Matt Sonic's soon to be released "Revelator" vinyl pressing... I listened to it the other day and if Kyuss and them stoner sounds is what you dig... you will love this album... Matt is one real nice guy... we'll be playing with him and his band on New Years Eve at the Tote... it's shaping up to be a big one!!! I is scared!

New Sintoma Skateboard Designs

Howdy All!

Well I've finally been able to finish the Sintoma Skateboard designs for 2010.... I've been hacking away at them for months... I had to ink them with Adobe Illustrator....and man I had a pretty ugly time... "man why does it keep doing that!" I'd be saying for weeks!!! and fitting one layer under the other and transperencies and vector shit.... anyway I'm happy they're out of the way... and it shits me bad that the only reason they wanted the designs in vector is so they could pull and stretch to fit on the board shapes.... shit.... just give me a template and I'll get it happening... Spend my time learning how to use Illustrator so some guy can do his job quicker... so I gotta do mine slower!!! damn it makes me angry!!anywho... they are done now! I'm happy I learned new stuff though...

I got most of my Adobe Illustrator knowledge (I don't have much) from such kind folks as Sherm Cohen and Brian Romero HERE you can see Brian Romeros post on digital inking, and HERE
Sherm's very helpfull Youtube videos explaining his inking process.

I'm not one for doing things digitally... I think it looks crappy and at the end of the day just sitting in front of a computer screen all day shit's me to tears... but sometimes you just gotta do it!

The black and white ones will have no white background... they will be wood colour... I told the guys back in Valencia to take some picks when they have them ready so I can post them here... but knowing how disorganised these street skating rats are... it'll be a while before I get to see them finished!! hehe

Here is the latest thing I've been able to finish....

Los Chicos are bringing out a double A side 7" on Dirt Water Records out in London, they got me to design one of the sides, my good friend Mik Baro did the other... Los Chicos are an awesome band!!! good friends of mine, if you ever get the chance to check them out... do it!!
The song " We Sound Amazing But We Look Like Shit" is awesome!!! so buy the record when it comes out!!!

Last week I was all busy finishing a centrespread for Car Kulture Deluxe Magazine... I don't know in what issue it will appear in... so keep an eye out for it. Thanks to Anna Marco for diggin my art and chasing me up! I dug doing this car so much I'm working on some T-shirt designs for Kustom Lane...They'll have the craziest old school cars with the beastiest of engines you could imagine!!! I'll let you know when they are ready...

I've also been working on a Wrong Turn T-shirt that they'll have ready for their album launch in October... so go down there and enjoy their two peice wild rock 'n' roll!!!

Ahhhh.. I almost forgot, I also drew up these two warner bros. cartoon characters from the episodes Hyde and Hare & Hair-Raising Hare for Dante to get Tattooed... they were fun to do!

G'day Folks!!! look at how excited I am about my NEW "Howlin Woolf" Fuzz Pedal, by Tym guitars, it's got the drawing I did for him silk screened on it, I tried it out yesterday with the whole band blaring!!! and it's one mean fuzz!!! Get yours today!!!! If there was a nuclear holocaust this pedal would still be around, it's one steardy peice of fuzz!! I think the Russians are trying get Tim to build their new tanks!!!

Well the secret project I was working on was some artwork for Laura Imbruglia, she's putting together an album with artwork by Ray Ahn from the Hard -Ons, myself and somebody else I don't know the name of... sorry! It's all based on Mad magazine so it was
lot's of fun I still have one peice I have to finish for her....it's a real honor to be among pages with the art of Ray Ahn, I grew up looking at his stuff!!! can't wait to see the finished thing!

Kustom Lane THE ATOMIC AGE

Howdy Folks!!

Here is a poster I did for the upcoming Kustom Lane Show THE ATOMIC AGE, it opens Saturday 2nd of May at 2pm in the arvo and it's on till the 24th of May, so if you can't make it to the opening come some other time, there will be copies of the poster for sale with other bits and peices I am doing for the show.

I've been drawing heaps of stuff but I can't show it just yet, It's got to do with surfboards... well.... you can take a look at these pencil drawing but I have changed Palazzi the surf NAZI a bit in this bottom drawing, the legs were looking funny.... so I changed them (you'll see when I post the inked versions.

And here is a little sketch for a board that is supposed to be called "THE FREAK" but I've got this idea about a mutant surfer so maybe we could call the board "THE MUTANT" we'll see.

Also here is a drawing I did, I still have to ink it but it's for a Melbourne Board Repairs sticker, but I'm not 100% sure because I really wanted to draw some crazy scene inside their workshed, which I'm hoping on Monday I'll be able to go in and study some of the stuff they have there, so I don't know if I'll ink this drawing, maybe just for fun...

Later on I'll post the paintings I've done for the Kustom Lane exhibition, I've got them drawn out but I still need to paint them, so stay tuned!!

Sorry I haven't been posting stuff in awhile been pretty busy I'll have some stuff to show soon, All of a sudden just gotten crazy busy around these parts, so yeah I'll post some stuff soon!!!

Well these bottom drawing I took into Zak Surfboards in Thornbury and he really liked them so I'm doing some other stuff I've been busy on , I'll show you when I have it all finished, The bottom drawing is the beginning of a small Bo Savage comic I'm working on, ohhh I'm having such a good time!!! hehehehehe!!!!!
I'm also working on the new Kustom Lane exhibition poster.... THE ATOMIC AGE!!!! will have this ready next week some time, and also working on Serafin animation.... if you click on the Image up the top it's GIF that will walk n stuff, so yeah enjoy and see ya soon!

Here is a little clip I've been working on, it has no story or nothing, but I'm doing it as an exercise to learn to use Flash more than anything and to animate to music, I've still got heaps to learn but I am having the funnest time!!
I also put some shit effect on Adobe After Effects that I don't really like now!! ohh well? also I have to work on the backgrounds and so and so on!!
I love the music on this, it's by Parham–Pickett Apollo Syncopaters (W/ "Tiny" Parham & Junie C. Cobb) and the song is called Mojo Strut, ever since I heard it I thought, something need to be animated to this, it's just so jiving and fun! there is heaps more to the song!

He's really out there!!! but he's a nice guy!

Untamed Highway!!!

G'day people,

Today I'm posting about something very special, which probably some of you know about and some of you don't..... Untamed Highway!!!!! the best comic series I have read in years!!! It's creators are Shawn Dickinson and Noah Snodgrass. They also put it out themselves, that is gold!

I am not much of a comics encyclopedia/historian but I know what I like, and reading Untamed Highway I can see a lot of influences from a lot of places, from Don Martin to Tex Avery,passing through the 50's EC comic Panic, they stop off and visit the underground comix of the 60's with R.crumb, and Gilbert Shelton, Robert Williams, and then back again to E.C Segar (creator Popeye), Untamed Highway has it all!! it also reminds me of the daily strips of Mandrake and Dick Tracy, the list goes on and on...

While reading this I thought to myself "what kind of education must these men have had, what excesses or deficiencies must they have suffered in their childhoods to produce such a great/ f***ed up comic!!!???", will we ever know? someone needs to interview these men!!

Now, as you can see the drawings are absolutely great!! What I think makes this comic series stand out from all the rest of modern comic dribble is that it's actually drawn by hand and inked with real ink!!!! there is no illustrator or photoshop here, no cheesy shading either!!! and you can tell they probably wrote the story out by hand on a peice of paper!! how else?

I try to imagine these guys' hands and the actual pages these guys work on and they are not those of an office clerk with no calases or cuts but of a mechanics hands with wood splinters from their pencils and their hands are probably full of paper cuts, the pages are stained with motor oil, tomatoe sauce (ketchup), french fries, beer, cigarettes, indian ink, blood and sweat!!!! there is passion here!!! real LIFE!

The theme and story take you through all that Americana and popular culture we are missing so much today!!! Untamed Highway is described as "The comic That Scratches The Underbelly Of Forgotten American Culture" and it's a true and fair description.

All the characters are great and they are not just Good or Bad, but their intentions and actions dictate how you feel about them , each character has a strong enough personality so that they feel alive, they have motives and reasons for being how they are.

There is heaps of Slapstick humour too...which I love!!! and again not much of it around these days, seems like everybody has something important to say!!?!!

The story is fast paced and rolls, it is not just one gag after another for no reason... the story flows! keeps moving and keeps things interesting.

What I think is genius about Untamed Highway is how the dialogue suits the character's perfectly and when it's time for action it's like silent old animation, the story is told in pictures, like real comics should! these two things combined makes Untamed Highway the great comic series it is!!

I have just finished #3 and I am left wanting more!!! so I hope Shawn and Noah have their pencils out and scribbling!! They told me they are working on #4.... Can't wait!!!

Hello People!! Here are some small paintings I painted the other day, I had a real ball with them, they aren't for anything in perticular, just for fun and amusement...
Don't ask me why I painted this , because I don't know, maybe it's because I've been listening to too much 1930's jazz, blues & folk??
They are painted on watercolour paper with gouche and coloured pencils, the sizes are 10.5cm X 15cm, I'd been missing getting my hands dirty with paint... I think it's about time!

Yeah well here is a little thing I worked on yesterday... I had been meaning to study and copy the 10X Double Bounce Walk from Flip the Frog animation tutorial that John K so generously put up on his Blog ages ago,

so I took it, studied it and now I feel a bit closer to understanding how this animation thing works...

looking at my walk though I see that Flip the Frog has more of a bounce and that I should have exagerated a little bit more the poses,maybe distortioned the form a little more... but really I wasn't ready to do that... because I am only starting to understand the mechanics if the animation.... but I will repeat this walk and apply it to whole range of characters!!! it's the best WALK there is! everybody should walk like this!

On top here is the First of my attempts to colour the poster, as you can see I went bazerk on it with colour... I thought it was too computery, so I went for a more old fashioned limited colour poster, I still don't know which one I like more though... I chose the later one because it was easier to work with, my computer couldn't hack the wight of the first, also I think if I had painted it by hand I would probably like it even more!!! anyway this computer inking and stuff, I'm not much of a fan! I'll stick to raw materials!

KAFRE TEATRE 2009

It's that time again... Kafre Teatre TIME!, but this time I have decided to try some new stuff out... The drawing above is the sketch for the poster.
So... I read in Brian Romero's Blog about inking in Adobe Illustrator, and I thought that that was kind of interesting, then John K said something about getting a job cleaning Jim Smith drawings, which I reackon are awsome!! hehehe.... so I gave it a go but because I'm a bit of computer neanderthal I cleaned them up using a pencil and a light box... yeah!?, I had a look at the people that John K was talking about and I noticed that they all had used Illustrator as well, so I thought let's give this a go, so my brother in law who's a bit of computer junky, brought me a copy of illustrator and a kind guy that I know that is a computer graphics illustrator, gave me his pen tablet thing which he didn't need, so I've been playing around with it a bit, first I did some Flash animation stuff with the pen... and now I'm having a go at inking with illustrator... I think it's looking pretty good... but it's bloody time consuming and this sitting infront of the coputer all day is driving me a bit out of my mind!

Hope you like it, I like how it's looking but like everything now a days, computer's give you the possiblity to be too much of a perfectionist and that kind of bores me, but hey it's good to learn things.

Howdy folks... well we got back last week from our European tour and we've been trying to get back to normal... but after so much running a muck it's hard to sit down and just draw...the tour turned out really good though....and... I haven't laughed so much in my life!!! hahaha!!! there are so many little stories... hehehe.. I think we all had a balst!!! It would be good to write them down and do a little comic about it, but I have mixed feeling about doing something autobiographical... dunno? we'll see...

Also here is the first big sketch I did after some quick thumbnail sketches, I changed the face. his posture too is more leaned back relaxed and not so eager leanign foward, the angle of the car is also different, any other differences.. pick them out ... there are many!

...Anyway that's the latest little thing I done (finished it this morning), Both Screwtop Detonator and Midnight Woolf are launching our respective records on the 6th of December at The Tote Hotel, Melbourne. Both CD's are put out through Off the Hip, Midnight Woolf also have vinyl which we put out ourselves, it's beautifull!

We printed up 17 mustard coloured green ones and 22 red. Howdy folks!

Just been finishing off the Sintoma Skateboards... one more to go!!

and finishing off the Midnight Woolf record!!! hahaha it's gonna be a laugh! meanwhile here's a T-shirt design I did for Tym Guitars... the best guitar shop in Austalia I say!!! he's in Brisbane, we went up there for a wild weekend a few months ago, and Tim lent us guitars and stuff and made us feel at home...such a cool NEW shop!! gotta do it again soon!

I just got a T-shirt from him and the Silk Screening turned out really good... so if you would like one just go HERE and order one in.

About a week ago I received from skatepaige.com an uncut, no holes blank skateboard... it was quick easy and real good. so I got my jigsaw out and traced an old Natas Kaupas I have which is dear to my heart and then I added a bit of extra nose... now I'm painting it and it should be ready to be ridden this week!! can't wait.

Here is a the new cover for the Sydney based band The Dunhill Blues, Good funny guys!!! I had a real blast doing this one 'cos our stupid humor clicked real good and their idea suited me to a tea, it's not always like that..so enjoy... the record should be out soon... look out for it!!

Here is an illustration I did for some party goers here in Melbourne, thay are organizing some gigs around town with the name El Trasho Loco, Midnight Woolf are keen to play there but the gods would not let it be so... we have to wait for a couple of months before we get back in the saddle and ride where our spirits can be free!!!!!

Last night at the GB (Great Brittain Hotel) in Richmond, Melbourne, Toby from The Hotel Wrecking City Traders came to see us play, we all a had a ball and laughed a lot, Toby gave me a copy of their brand new spanking DVD, with four Psyched out Experimental Dark as Hell songs recorded and filmed live at the East Brunswick Hotel. This is the illustration I did for them Last year some time I can't remember, but... Yeah they have used it for the cover of the DVD... so have a look out for it!

G'day Peoples!!!! Sorry for not posting stuff in while!! been busy as a one armed bricklayer in china!!
Here is one of four skateboard designs I'm doing for Sintoma Skateboards in Valencia, Spain! They'll be out later in the year, and most probably only be able to buy 'em in Spain, although maybe through the internet?

I've also been trying some animation stuff with Flash and I'm really happy and inspired so when I have stuff ready I'll let you's all know when it's up on Youtube, real busy though so I don't know when it will be finished!!

Here's a picture I just finished today, it's for a group show at Hell's Gallery,31 MAY – 21 JUNE 2008

The show's theme are artists self portraits with a monobrow.... I guess I got it wrong and did myself with my parents!!! All works are for sale so come down! even if you don't intend on buying anything!!

G'day peoples!!
I'm back in Australia!! our trip to Valencia was all fun!!! I talked to Sintoma Skateboards there and I'm going to do four more skateboard illustrations for them!!!, here is photo of two skateboards I designed for them about two years ago, don't take any notice of the idiot in the middle.

The Spazzys artwork is all done only need to add the barcode and all them things, but it should go into be pressed soon!! so watch out!! 24 full colour pages!!! ohh how pretty!!!

Digger & The Pussycats

I have just finished the arwork for the new Digger & The Pussycats record, & here is the cover!

They're having the launch on Wednesday 5th of March at the Cherry bar, in the city (Melbourne), DON"T MISS IT!! They are also heading out to Europe in late March... you can check out their tour dates HERE

the record is brought out by Spooky Records, the CD contains 10 tracks + 10 full page illustrations that I whipped up while suffering from lack of sleep...I received it this week in the mail and I'm very happy with how it looks...I was all worried about the colours as I always worry working with a computer (I'm a bit of a neanderthal when it comes to computers). They are also getting some Vinyl copies in Germany through P-Trash Records, the cover will be silk screened!!! so I'm very keen to get a copy of that. The 10 inside illustrations will not be icluded.

I exhibited these at the beginning of 2007 in Diario Club Levante (Valencia, Spain)together with others, they got published as a little booklet with other oil paintings of mine, you can buy the book at Polyester books (330 Brunswick st, Fitzroy, Victoria, Australia.) for just a bit over Au$20!! now that's a bargain!! there is also some text inside and other nice illustrations
